Date/time of visit: 20 April 2022 at 7:00pm If any restaurant deserves 5 stars, it's Osteria. We (party of 2) walked in without a reservation and were seated with reasonable ease. The restaurant appears to be popular and, given the quality of the food, it's easy to see why. This restaurant cures its own meats, makes its own pasta and bakes its own bread and it's all amazing quality. The flavours and the textures of the dishes are wonderful and amazing. The venue is lovely. The staff were great. This is probably the best Ialian restaurant I've dined in. When you hear chefs on cooking programs talk about preparing food with love, Osteria is the prime example of what those chefs are describing.

Had a wonderful experience and cannot recommend highly enough. They were very responsive to questions, helpful and efficient. We were able to find out about gluten free options and make a reservation online. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed, the owner remembered our dietary requirements and took the time to show everything on the menu that was an option. Super friendly and could recommend dishes to try. Food was excellent. We had the meat platter for 2, gnocchi one Italian sausage and mushrooms, the other seafood marinara... delicious! Portions are on the larger side but it's so good you have to eat it all. We also had Panna Cotta and Tiramisu for dessert... again excellent. At no point did we feel rushed or pressured to leave even though it's a smaller venue. There is a lovely view and the restaurant is tastefully decorated. If lucky enough to be in the area again, we would definitely go back.

The food we had was exceptional! The gnocchi, fish, calamari, and tiramisu were absolutely delicious — easily the best we've ever had in Tasmania.

Delicious and authentic Italian food. If you eat nothing but the Ricotta and spinach dumplings, you'll leave happy. The spaghetti sofritto is to die for as well.

This was by far the best restaurant and meal we had while in Tasmania for 10 days! We stopped in on a whim after a little road trip afternoon and found Osteria @ Petty Sessions in Franklin. The staff were really friendly, the food was really fresh and made with love. Had to have entree, main and dessert because the food was just so good and we wanted to try it all! Beautiful touch with house made pickles and small goods.

Food is very delicious. The best I have had in a long time. 3 course meal with appropriate portion (aka not make me extremely full). Lovely service. Highly recommend to everyone who is visiting south

The best Italian restaurant outside of Italy, Incredible food and ambience, but not only that, Sofia and Martino are incredible people, the service is just top notch, the food has flavour and is seasoned to perfection. They use local ingredients so you can get the best Tassie food with the Italian flag flavours. I highly recommend visiting for lunch or dinner when in Franklin, you will not be disappointed. Just fantastic food.

Visited on a Saturday for lunch at 1215. Service was warm and friendly. Venue is right beside the Franklin River. We had the salumi and foccacia for starters. Bread and cured meats were good. For mains we had mushroom gnocchi and spaghetti carbonara. I had the carbonara and it was the best I've had to date. Home made spaghetti cooked to aldente. The sauce was velvety, smooth, and perfectly emulsified. Topped with parmesan and crunchy pancetta. We shared a tiramisu for desert. It was good. Importantly, it was was not too sweet. Fluffy and airy. We loved the food so much that we booked for lunch again the following weekend. Yummy.
